Enjoy the “High Lonesome” sound of the Grammy-winning singer/guitarist Del McCoury and his band.
Band patriarch Del McCoury has impeccable traditional credentials, including an early-’60s stint with Bill Monroe, the Father of Bluegrass, a 2010 National Heritage Fellowship and 2011 induction into the Bluegrass Hall of Fame. But the Grammy-winning singer/guitarist who personifies the “High Lonesome” sound also takes it to new frontiers playing with everyone from jam band Phish to the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. McCoury’s band features sons Ronnie (mandolin) and Rob (banjo), with fiddler Jason Carter and bassist Alan Bartram. As opry.com put it, McCoury has “proven not to be a relic of bluegrass music’s past, but an architect of its future.”
