PBS's premier international newsmagazine once again turns its
lens on the global community with stories reported by a new
generation of talented video journalists that take viewers to
countries and cultures rarely covered by the mainstream media.
PBS' international newsmagazine follows reporter Sharmeen Obaid
as she journeys across her native Pakistan to gauge the feelings of
the Pakistani people regarding their president's crackdown on
domestic terrorism and his efforts to secure peace with the
country's bitter enemy, India. Also featured: a report from
Kyrgyzstan, where the tradition of kidnapping brides has come back
stronger than ever in the post-Soviet era; and a visit to Kenya,
where local women are breaking records and breaking down social
barriers by training to join the ranks of the world's elite long
distance runners.
