This gala honors James Taylor, the National Academy of Recording
Arts and Sciences' MusiCares program "Person of the Year," in
recognition of his musical achievements and philanthropic
commitment to the arts.
One of the preeminent and most influential singer-songwriters of
the 1970s, James Taylor has remained unsurpassed as a musical
craftsman, with an enduring popularity that is the hallmark of a
superstar. On February 6, 2006, Taylor was honored by the National
Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences' (the host organization of
the Grammy Awards) MusiCares program as "Person of the Year" in
recognition of his musical achievements and philanthropic
commitment to the arts as well as environmental and humanitarian
causes. The all-star line-up of performers participating in the
gala concert includes Jackson Brown, David Crosby, Sheryl Crow, Dr.
John, Carole King, Alison Krauss, Taj Mahal, Bonnie Raitt, Paul
Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Keith Urban and more.
