Manderston celebrates the British Empire's colonial prowess and
success. Mr. Raj-Singh insults the household; Miss Anson returns;
Master Guy puts on a play.
In episode five, events are being organized at Manderston to
celebrate the British Empire's colonial prowess and success. The
disgruntled tutor, Mr. Raj-Singh, is invited to organize a special
evening of dinner and entertainment hosted by Sir John, but manages
only to alienate himself by insulting the entire household in front
of the guests. Miss Anson returns, looking rejuvenated after her
foray back to the modern world. Later, at the Empire Ball, the
guests arrive in costume as great rulers of history and Master Guy
puts on a play. As the celebrations upstairs reach a crescendo, the
mood downstairs is somber; the servants are reading newspaper
accounts of the sinking of the Titanic .
