In the final episode, the family and the servants enjoy a day at
the races. Back at Manderston, they reflect on their personal
experiences and discuss the bygone era they have come to know so
well. The family is invited to the servants' ball downstairs.
Later, they watch as an effigy of Sir John is burned in a roaring
bonfire. The servants will be moving up in the world when they
return to the 21st century, but the family will have to endure a
humbling transition back to the future. On their last day, the
Olliff-Coopers leave in modern clothes and cars, as will the staff
after they've cleaned the dauntingly grand Manderston one more
time.
