Stookey and Peter Yarrow in a special tribute to Mary Travers, plus
Counting Crows and Augustana; highlights from Ken Burns's upcoming
PBS series THE NATIONAL PARKS: AMERICA'S BEST IDEA; and remarks by
filmmakers Ken Burns and Dayton Duncan, Mayor Michael Bloomberg,
and actor and film narrator Peter Coyote. Note: This was a
non-broadcast event.
This event is part of NPCA's National Parks Week NYC, leading up to
National Public Lands Day on September 26, when the National Park
Service and the National Park Foundation invite people to visit
America's national parks and historic sites for free for a day of
service, celebration and a sneak peek of the Ken Burns film, THE
NATIONAL PARKS: AMERICA'S BEST IDEA, premiering September 27th on
PBS. Activities are planned at more than 200 sites across the
country.
