this year, this elected body is dominated by a majority of
Christian conservatives who have been accused of inserting their
politics and religious beliefs into the curriculum. NEED TO KNOW
traveled to Austin, Byran and Mt. Pleasant, Texas, to interview Don
McLeroy, a member of the conservative bloc on the board, Thomas
Raitliff, who defeated McLeroy in his re-election to the School
Board of Education, and Kathy Miller of the Texas Freedom Network,
a watchdog group that monitors the religious right.
