Calm, collected and in control, or emotionally vibrant, heart on the sleeve and fraught with histrionics — these are two approaches to music-making.
Calm, collected and in control, or emotionally vibrant, heart on
the sleeve and fraught with histrionics - these are two
approaches to music-making explored through a mythological
paradigm. Conductor James Conlon and eminent pianist Menahem
Pressler look at these divergent approaches through the eyes of the
young pianists who competed in the Twelfth Van Cliburn
International Piano Competition, held in Fort Worth, Texas, in the
spring of 2005. Musical excerpts and rehearsals feature Davide
Cabassi and the Takács Quartet.
