This Tony Award-winning musical by Adam Guettel and Craig Lucas
takes place in Florence in 1953. A beautiful young tourist falls in
love with a handsome Florentine. As their relationship develops,
the girl's mother must reveal the truth that will surely test that

Winner of six Tony Awards, "The Light in the Piazza" brings
together the talents of Adam Guettel (music and lyrics) and Craig
Lucas (book) in this adaptation of Elizabeth Spencer's novella,
directed by Bartlett Sher. The work is produced by Lincoln Center
Theater and will be broadcast from the Vivian Beaumont Theater. The
musical takes place in Florence, Italy, in the summer of 1953. A
surprisingly innocent and beautiful young tourist loses her hat in
a sudden gust of wind. It lands at the feet of a handsome young
Florentine. They fall in love. As their relationship develops, the
girl's mother must reveal the truth that will surely test that
love. The lush romantic tale features Tony Award-winner Victoria
Clark, Sarah Uriarte Berry, Michael Berresse, Katie Clarke, Patti
Cohenour, Beau Gravitte, Aaron Lazar and Chris Sarandon.
