A sister and brother leave war-torn London to live with a troubled
family in Wales, where they stumble on magical adventures, in an
adaptation of Nina Bawden's beloved children's classic,
Carrie's War . During the mass evacuation of children to
the countryside at the beginning of World War II, Carrie Willow
(Keeley Fawcett) and her younger brother, Nick (Jack Stanley), land
with puritanical shopkeeper Mr. Evans (Alun Armstrong, "Bleak
House") and his loving but timid sister, Lou (Lesley Sharp, The
Full Monty ). The youngsters' fortunes take a lucky turn when
they're sent to fetch a Christmas goose at mysterious Druid's
Bottom - home of a self-professed witch named Hepzibah (Pauline
Quirke, "David Copperfield") and Mr. Evans' ethereal, estranged
sister, Mrs. Gotobed (Geraldine McEwan, "Miss Marple").
